Opening for Tri-City Mental Health Board

Pomona City Council is seeking a Community Member to be appointed and serve at the pleasure of the City Council to the Tri-City Mental Health Authority Board of Directors

  • Tri-City Mental Health Authority, also designated and known as ‘Tri-City Mental Health Center’ (“Tri-City”) was established through a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) Agreement between the Cities of Pomona, Claremont and La Verne pursuant to the provisions of the Joint Exercise of Powers Act, Article Chapter 5, Division 7, Title 1 of the Government Code of the State of California, Section 6500, et seq. relating to the joint exercise of powers common to public agencies, and the provisions of the Bronzan-McCorquodale Act/Short-Doyle Act, Part 2, Section 5600, et seq., of the Welfare and Institutions Code of the State of California.
  • Pursuant to the JPA Agreement Tri-City shall be governed by a Board of Directors (“Governing Board”) composed of seven members, each serving without compensation.
  • Pursuant to Section 5601(a) of the Bronzan-McCorquodale Act/Short-Doyle Act of the Welfare and Institutions Code of the State of California (“WIC”), four members of the board shall be a council member of his/her respective City, and three members of the Board shall be community members appointed by the three Cities.
  • The Governing Board (“Board”) has the powers common to public agencies as enumerated in the Joint Exercise of Powers Act.

A typical qualified person would be someone who is a professional providing Mental Health services (currently working or retired) and resides in the City of Pomona.  Please see Resolution No. 2007-151 for a list of qualifications.
