The Community Development Department includes the divisions of Planning and Housing. The Planning Services administer and enforce applicable State and local codes to ensure the health and safety of the public. The Housing Division's function is to administer and develop various housing programs designed to assist very low, low and moderate-income households. In addition, the division administers the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program; the Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) program which provides for coordination of services for the homeless; the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, and the Shelter Plus Care and Supportive Housing Program Grants.
