Request for Qualifications:  Art in Public Places Artist List

 

Thank you for your interest in pursuing public art in the City of Pomona! The City of Pomona seeks proposals from qualified artists for an Art in Public Places Pre-Qualified Artist List. The City of Pomona is dedicated to preserving and building on the inventory of existing public art within the community. The purpose of this Request for Qualifications is to establish a bench of artists from which to pursue public art projects citywide. This call is being initiated by the City of Pomona’s Planning Division, in consultation with the Cultural Arts Commission and its Citizen’s Advisory Committee.

Please follow these steps to apply.

Step 1: Review the RFQ & Application Checklist

Review the Request for Qualifications for complete information on eligibility, criteria, and evaluation. In addition, review the Application Checklist, which provides a quick summary of submittal requirements.

Step 2: Attend a Workshop (Optional)

We encourage you to attend one of two workshops we will be hosting to go over the application process and answer questions about the Art in Public Places program.

Step 3: Complete the Application

Download a copy of the application and submit it electronically to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or in person to the Planning counter at City Hall, located at 505 South Garey in Civic Center Plaza.

Applications are due no later than 6pm on Thursday, May 16, 2019. 

Selection Process

All applications will be reviewed by the Cultural Arts Commission and its Citizen’s Advisory Committee with assistance from Planning staff. Selected artists will be placed on a short list for public art. As the Cultural Arts Commission identifies locations suitable for public art, all artists on the short list will be invited to respond to a Request for Proposals. Artists selected to proceed with public art projects will be required to enter into a professional services contract with the City of Pomona.
