
Danielle Soto was elected to the Pomona City Council in November 2008 to represent District 1, with her current term continuing through November 2012. Ms. Soto, inspired by her Grandmother former Assemblywoman Nell Soto and Grandfather former Assemblyman Phil Soto, intends to continue her family tradition of open communication with the residents of Pomona, learning their issues and aspirations regarding the community that they call home.
Ms. Soto has resided in Pomona for the last 17 years. She attended Lincoln Elementary, Palomares Middle School, Lorbeer Middle School and graduated from Diamond Ranch High School in 2004.
Ms. Soto is a graduate from UC Santa Cruz with a degree in EnvironmentalStudies. During her time there, courses included National Environmental Protection Act, California Environmental Quality Act and Water policy classes. Ms. Soto’s experience includes serving as an intern at the South Coast Air Quality Management District where she currently works as a staff assistant in the legislative and public affairs office. In addition, Ms. Soto has interned as a research assistant for the Coalition for Clean Air. She has a strong interest in transportation, air quality and water quality issues.

As the City’s youngest Council Member, Ms. Soto represents the City on the City Council Residential Improvement Task Force, the City – School Liaison Committee, and the Pomona Valley Transportation Authority.
