NEBO SECTIONS
SECTION 1 - NEW HIRE GUIDE
This guide provides you with a brief overview of the City of Pomona. You will be required to electronically sign an acknowledgement form that you have read and understand the information provided in this guide. This form is located in Section 5.

SECTION 2 - NEW HIRE PACKET - FORMS TO BE COMPLETED
These forms need to be completed to set you up as a new employee. You must complete all the forms included in the "New Hire Packet" section and return the completed forms via e-mail or bring to Rebecca Valadez, Human Resources Assistant, in the Human Resources Department no later than your first day of employment.

SECTION 3 - ADMINISTRATIVE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
This section addresses a number of important policies that govern many areas of employment. It is important that you become familiar with these policies. You will be required to electronically sign an acknowledgement form that you have read and understand these policies. This form is located in Section 5.

SECTION 4 - SAFETY AND INJURY PREVENTION
The City has an Injury and Illness Prevention Policy (IIPP) in place that meets or exceeds the requirements set forth in Cal/OSHA's Injury and Illness Prevention Program. The City's policy places the responsibility for safety on all employees including Directors, Managers and Supervisors. Because of the City's desire to provide a safe and hazard free work environment, it is incumbent upon all City employees to report any unsafe condition in the workplace. Additionally, the IIPP policy requires that the City's Safety Officer conduct training on various topics that will aid in workplace safety as well as accident and incident investigation. You will be required to electronically sign an acknowledgement form that you have read and understand the information posted in this Section. This form is located in Section 7.

SECTION 5 - ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FORMS
After you have read Section 1-4, you must electronically sign the acknowledgment form below.

SECTION 6 - SALARY AND HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
The city is on a biweekly pay system. The payroll calendar identifies the beginning and ending days of the pay periods and all recognized City holidays. Employees are paid every other Thursday for the previous two (2) weeks worked.

SECTION 7 - MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
The City of Pomona has a Mayor/City Manager form a government and is divided into six (6) districts each represented by a Councilmember. The Mayor is elected at large by voters throughout the City.

SECTION 8 - CITY OF POMONA FACTS AND FIGURES
The City of Pomona is the fifth largest City in the County of Los Angeles. Pomona is located in the center of the Greater Los Angeles Basin, adjacent to the vast and expanding Inland Empire. Pomona has the advantage of easy access to several major freeways and lies within ten miles of a major airport. Ten colleges lie within a 15-minute drive from downtown Pomona, including the Claremont Colleges, University of La Verne, and California State University Polytechnic, Pomona.

SECTION 9 - CITY ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
The City of Pomona is comprised of twelve (12) departments each having its own divisions.

SECTION 10 - EMERGENCY PREPARENESS
The Human Resources Department, in conjunction with the Police and Fire Department, is responsible for the City's emergency response in the case of a natural disaster or any other type of emergency. An employee emergency evacuation plan has been developed that provides evacuation routes from City faciliteis in the event of an emergency. In addition, the City has an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) that may or may not be activated, depending upon the severity of the incident. The Human Resource Department post information periodically on the City's internet and intranet sites regarding the Emergency Services program and/or any training that may be provided.
