Fats, Oils, Grease (FOG)

The City of Pomona encourages the public to protect the wastewater collection system from the improper disposal of fats, oils and grease (FOG).

Placing fats, oils or grease down a sink can lead to a clog in the sewer line that can lead to wastewater backing up into homes, businesses and out into the streets.  Cleanup can be expensive for homeowners and businesses.  Businesses like restaurants can be subject to fines and closure.

Your help is needed to stop these blockages from occurring.  The easiest way to solve this problem is to keep fats, oil and grease out of the sewer system in the first place.  The following tips can help keep our sewer system flowing:

Sewer backup and overflows affect everyone.  Increased sewer blockages and overflows are expensive.  This can lead to costly maintenance and heavy fines from regulatory agencies, ultimately increasing your sewer fees.  For more information on the City’s FOG program please call the Water/Wastewater Operations Division at (909) 620-2251.
