Military Banner Program
- The Pomona City Council approved a Military Banner program in September 2005 to honor those Pomona residents serving on active military duty in a war zone.
- Fundraising efforts were launched through civic groups, employee organizations, service clubs, businesses, and families throughout Pomona, and the first installation of military banners was in place for Veterans Day 2007.
- More banners have been added each year, and are proudly flying on Mission, Garey, and Park Avenues in the Civic Center area.
- Purchase of banners is funded entirely through donations. Banner cost is $250, which includes the banner, hardware, and installation. Banners will be awarded to the family of the honoree upon conclusion of the program. Families may choose to purchase a banner or can be placed on a wait list until sufficient donations are received to cover the cost.
