Major Crimes Task Force

After experiencing an increase in narcotics activity and gang violence during the 1980’s, the Pomona Police Department formed a team of officers to combat serious crimes. Primarily, the team has a mission to conduct high visibility proactive patrols in areas known to have a reputation for criminal activity; however, it is also capable of operating undercover. The Police Department relies heavily upon the Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) to suppress gang violence, investigate drug offenses, and pursue wanted persons. MCTF works closely with neighboring police agencies and various law enforcement branches such as, the California Department of Corrections and the Los Angeles Probation Department. Currently, the team is comprised of two supervisors, four officers and two additional officers from the California Highway Patrol – Baldwin Park Office.
